The Invacare Platinum Mobile Portable Oxygen Concentrator Overview
The Invacare Platinum Mobile Oxygen Concentrator is a device that is used to treat respiratory disorders by providing supplemental oxygen to patients. The lightweight Invacare Platinum Mobile portable oxygen concentrator weighs in at only 5 pounds and was designed with the active user in mind. With 5 pulse dose settings and a maximum battery life of 10 hours (pulse setting 1 with double battery configuration), the Invacare Platinum is ideal for long flights, road trips, and even international travel. Plus, the downward-facing ports and vents make it possible to withstand up to 10 minutes of direct rain, so you don’t have to worry about your concentrator if you get caught in the rain!
As this device is a pulse dose concentrator, it is not recommended for use while sleeping and cannot be connected to a CPAP machine for use during sleep.
Invacare Oxygen Concentrator Key Features
Battery Duration
One of the more innovative design features of the Platinum Mobile oxygen concentrator is the top-loading battery compartment. Simply open the battery access door, and lower the battery into the empty slot. If you are using two batteries, insert both batteries the same way.
View the battery duration chart below to determine approximate times for your oxygen settings, as well as approximate recharge times for your portable oxygen concentrator.
To recharge the batteries, simply plug the concentrator into AC or DC power, using the provided cords. Users can charge the device and use it simultaneously. While charging, the topmost segment of the battery gauge will blink.
The battery gauge on the control panel indicates how much approximate life is left in the battery. When there are approximately 30 minutes of battery life remaining, the oxygen concentrator will beep once and a yellow alarm indicator will light up on the control panel. At 15 minutes of battery life remaining, the device will beep every 30 seconds until connected to external power.
Easy to Use
The Invacare Platinum features four large buttons for simple use and a control panel with LED indicators and a backlit LCD, letting users constantly monitor the status of their portable oxygen concentrator. An alarm indicator LED alerts individuals to one of 20+ alarms on their device, including no breath detected, high operating temperature, system failure, and more. To further troubleshoot alarms, refer to the user manual or contact our customer care team.
The LCD screen provides display text to further diagnose problems, as well as indicate what oxygen flow setting the device is currently set to. The pulse dose button easily allows users to change the setting of their machine. However, changes to your oxygen settings should not occur until you consult with your physician.
Along with the lightweight of the Platinum Mobile, this oxygen concentrator comes with a carrying case and shoulder strap, making travel a breeze. For best use, Invacare recommends a standard nasal cannula with tubing not exceeding 25 feet.
Maintenance
With proper cleaning and maintenance, the Invacare Platinum Mobile oxygen concentrator has an average service life of three years. Proper cleaning includes regularly wiping the concentrator cabinet with a damp cloth and mild soap to prevent a build-up of dust. The air intake filter screen must also be cleaned regularly to prevent large particles from getting trapped inside the device. This cleaning may require a vacuum cleaner or nylon brush.
Replace nasal cannulas and oxygen tubing on a regular basis.
Air Intake Filters
Air intake filters clean the air and other big particles. They should be cleaned before each use by following the instructions given on the “Cleaning the Air Intake Filter” screen in the maintenance section.
To clean the Air Intake Filter Screen, turn off the device and use a nylon brush or a vacuum cleaner to clean dust/debris from the air intake filter. Before re-installing the filter, make sure that it is completely dry.
